View Full Version : X-Registry compatible with Vista?
I am trying to install X-Registry on a Vista PC. After the file extraction, I ran product-config start-console-db to start the database. However, it simply listed out all the options for product-config, as if I did not enter any option. I tried other option such as verify and config, they all react the same way.
Is Infravio 66 compatible with Vista? If not, any workaround? I also notice that Vista does not recognize a command in bat file if the path start with .. (parent directory), which is used in product-config.
Please help.

You need to check the product compatability matrix found on Advantage. I would seriously doubt that Vista is officially supported at this point given is newness and apparent bugginess.
Personnally, I always wait for the first service pack or two to be released before adopting any new Microsoft product (especially an operating system).

My old machine is kind of too old so I bought a new machine. Vista is pre-installed. So I have no choice. One thing I just notice, cmd in Vista does not recongnize ../ as the parent directory if it is used to in the path of a command, which is used in some Infravio bat files. I hope webMethods will work it out with MS soon. Otherwise, my new machine can't function well.

Check all product-config files, especially build.xml, product-config and ant. Whenever you encounter a path with "/" replace them with "\". For some reason Vista does not interprete correctly commands where path involves both / adn \. I did that and on my Vista X-Registry and X-Broker run correctly (well, as correctly as they can taking into consideration that they have quite a few bugs still).
Please note that you won't be able to run automatic scripts for db on Vista, and you must create database tables by manually running the scripts on the database.
That sounds like a lot of trouble. How about CentraSite? I heard this is replacing X-Registry in 7.1. Is this more compatible to Vista?

well basically my comment regarded CentraSite, I have been working on it for a while and I was so focused that I didn't see that the question was about X-registry not CentraSite :). my bad. sorry
I am glad that you have been working on CentraSite. I will start looking into it soon. Pehaps you could share your experience. I probably will post more question in the Forum. Hope you will reply to them if you have experience. We need more threads and replies in the Infravio forum.
