Many of you may be participants of the webmethods-l reflector on ITtoolbox. It has been a good source of information and candid discussion.

I've recently had a message blocked by the moderator because the message made reference to this site (www.wmusers.com), a site that ITtoolbox considers to be a "competitor." I believe that our illustrious www.wmusers.com webmaster Dan Green has also had messages blocked for similar reasons.

This policy isn't explicitly listed on their terms of use pages but could presumably be inferred from other policies that prohibit bare reference to any other site.

IMO, this policy is short-sighted and hurtful to the webMethods user community. I'm interested in hearing other opinions about whether ITtoolbox is being fair or unfair on this topic.

Thanks for the kind words, Rob -- if calling me "illustrious" is considered kind... ;-)

You're right about IT Toolbox. I have had several messages blocked by the IT Toolbox moderators because I made reference to our message board at the webMethods User Community. I stopped making reference to this discussion board, and the moderators zapped me again -- this time because I had the http://www.wmusers.com URL in my signature.

I think IT Toolbox provides a great service to a lot of folks, but they are not interested in growing the webMethods User Community. After all, they cited this Discussion Board as a "competitor" to their threads. I am not sure that wMUsers.com can qualify as a competitor to *any* Web site because our entire premise is based upon sharing and education. For that reason, I stopped posting to the IT Toolbox email threads.

I appreciate your thoughts, Rob, and I wonder if any other folks have run into similar issues.
