I'm doing some research for some training tonight, and it's really funny to see how many companies claim that their technology is "built on a true ESB" or something of that sort. Cape Clear, Cordys, BEA, IBM, and dozens of others have made announcements that they have "true ESBs".

I think it's strongly indicative of something -- I'm not sure just what yet -- that so many marketing people feel they have to distinguish their One True ESB from all the other false ESBs out there. It's as if they're hammering on "true" because they're afraid the hype is already about to die off: "no, really, look at this one! This is the true one, not the one you were already disappointed in before!"

Why do you think they emphasize the "true" ESB? Let's discuss it in the comments section below.
